The Right to Information Act 2005 is the institutional arrangement for empowering citizens of this country so that the freedom of expression guaranteed to us by our Constitution could be put to use meaningfully. Freedom of speech and expression exercised without information and facts will not have the same impact on enhancing the vigour of our democratic polity.
India’s Right to Information law is one from whom other countries of the world including the World’s Financial Institutions like the World Bank seek to learn. The present publication is a challenge to the creativity of our development administrators, civil society groups and academics to enable them to work out solutions so that the mission and vision of the Act to provide for the right to information for all citizens becomes a reality for all. The arrangement of decisions in the present publication will assist all those including public authorities, social activists and citizens seeking information to take a step forward in this approach on how to give and how to obtain information on subjects of interest.
